The Westchester Medical Group said it will consolidate administrative offices at 32,000 square feet of space at 2700 Westchester Ave. in Purchase by the end of September. It will add 40 to 50 more employees at the site over the next 18 months.
Chief Financial Officer Clark Yoder said the group was moving administrative offices out of the third floor of 210 Westchester Ave. in Harrison, to accommodate more clinical practice there.
The new offices also will draw staff from two other offices in central Westchester. The medical group will consolidate billing, human resources, general finance, and a call center at the new site. The group employs 510 people plus 143 doctors, Yoder said. About 150 to 160 people work in administration.
CB Richard Ellis represented the medical group in the lease, which will run at least 10 years. The building, owned by Normandy Realty Partners, would be about one-third vacant once the medical group moves in.
In early 2010, Westchester Medical Group expects to open a $7 million surgical center in Rye.

North Street Community said it has a joint venture agreement with The Engel Burman Group to develop an assisted living community at the former St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains. Engel Burman is a real estate company that owns, builds and manages residential and other kinds of properties throughout the eastern United States, including the Bristal Assisted Living communities on Long Island. North Street Community plans to redesign the 150,000-square-foot former main hospital building into an assisted living community, with a separate area for those residents with memory loss associated with dementia.

About 180 business staff at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon Hospital will vote tomorrow on whether to join United Healthcare Workers East, Local 1199 of Service Employees International Union.
If successful, it would be the second group of hospital business workers that Local 1199 has organized in Westchester County this year, said Minerva Solla, vice president with the union’s organizing department.
In March, about 100 workers at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers voted to join the local, she said.
Hospital business staff include a wide range of job categories, including cashiers, coders, computer operators, clerk/typists, dietary clerks, data entry clerks, medical records staff, and switchboard operators.
The balloting will be overseen by the National Labor Relations Board. If the workers agree to representation by the local, they would subsequently form committees and start to negotiate a contract with management.
Solla said the Saint Joseph’s workers signed a contract with management several months after the vote.
Local 1199 also represents more than 900 service and technical workers at the New Rochelle and Mount Vernon hospitals.

Mount Kisco Medical Group has extended its contract with MVP Health Care for three years effective the start of 2009, both sides said today. MVP is the third insurer with whom the medical group has renewed contracts. Cigna and Healthnet signed deals earlier, said Dr. Scott Hayworth, the practice’s chief executive officer. Talks are continuing with a fourth insurer, whom Hayworth declined to identify. The practice will continue to see patients covered by that insurer while talks continue, he said. Mount Kisco Medical Group has 11 offices in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties, and 170 primary care and specialty physicians in MVP’s network. The extension covers all MVP plans except its Medicaid managed care and Medicare Advantage programs.
