Reader’s Digest names editor-in-chief for Home & Garden publishing

The Reader’s Digest Association Inc. in Chappaqua named Karol Nickell as vice president and editor-in-chief for its Home & Garden publishing business.

She will be responsible for the unit’s magazine brands based in Milwaukee including Birds & Blooms, Country, Farm & Ranch Living and Reminisce. The four magazines, which have a combined circulation of 4.5 million, also publish calendars, newsletters and books. Nickell, a magazine publishing executive with 20 years of experience, previously was vice president and editor-in-chief of Better Homes and Gardens from 2001 to 2006.

Former Marine fighter pilot joins Gamco

Gamco Investors Inc., the Rye-based money management firm, said that G. Anthony Bancroft II has joined the company in a marketing position to raise assets for the firm’s institutional separate account business and investment partnerships. Bancroft was most recently a U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilot stationed in San Diego. He spent 11 years as an aviator with the Marines, including service in Iraq.

Crawford makes Black Enterprise exec list

Victor L. Crawford of White Plains, senior vice president of global operations and system transformation at Pepsi Bottling Group in Somers, has been named to Black Enterprise magazine’s “100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America” list.
Crawford oversees the company’s PBG’s go-to-market strategy, manufacturing and warehouse operations, global revenue management, and information technology. He previously held management positions at Marriott International and Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Boston College.

Law firm names new partners

The law firm Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP recently named four new partners at its White Plains office. They are Joseph C. Baiocco, Lorraine E. J. Gallagher, Jennifer S. Heitman and Joseph A. H. McGovern. The firm has more than 750 lawyers who work at 20 offices nationally.

President named at Equisearch

John C. Buonomo Jr. has been named president of Equisearch, an Elmsford-based provider of services for recovery of lost financial assets. Buonomo will oversee day-to-day operations of the company and Equisearch’s product expansion programs. Buonomo previosuly was vice president and director of product management for BNY Mellon Shareholder Services. He also previoussly held senior positions at Smith Barney Corporate Trust and Mellon Investor Services.

Robert G.M. Keating, dean of the New York State Judicial Institute, recently was named vice president for strategic initiatives at Pace University, effective Dec. 1.

Keating will working with the universityâ€™s president and provost to coordinate Paceâ€™s offerings in career-focused personal development for professionals, its government and community relations and its institutionally-funded faculty activities and research.

As dean of the New York State Judicial Institute, Keating has been responsible for supervising the continuing judicial education of the stateâ€™s 1,200 state-paid judges and more than 2,000 town and village justices.

Pepsi Bottling announces promotions

Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. announced three executive appointments to its management team.

Rob King, whose role as president of Pepsi Bottling Group North America gave him oversight of the company’s business in the United States and Canada since 2006, will expand his responsibilities to include Mexico.

Brent Franks has been named president of Pepsi Bottling Group Mexico. Franks has served as senior vice president of global sales and chief customer officer since 2006.

Victor Crawford has been named senior vice president of worldwide operations and system transformation. He has served as senior vice president of worldwide operations since 2006.

Foss named chairman of Pepsi Bottling

Eric J. Foss, chief executive officer of Pepsi Bottling Group, will take on the added position of chairman of the board. As a result of that change, Barry H. Beracha, the companyâ€™s non-executive chairman since 2007, will resume his responsibilities as a director, according to the Somers-based company. Foss was named CEO in July 2006. He has worked more than 25 years in the Pepsi system, holding numerous positions in both the United States and overseas.

Stony Point resident elected to union post

Harry Nespoli, president of the New York City Uniformed Sanitationmenâ€™s Association, recently was elected chairman of the Municipal Labor Committee, an umbrella group that represents nearly 100 public employee unions in the city with more than 350,000 members.

Nespoli, a resident of Stony Point, became a sanitation worker in 1970 and was soon active in the union as a shop steward. He was elected a trustee in 1980 and vice president in 1993. In 2001, he became president of the union that represents 6,000 workers.

Gregory D. Nelson has been named senior vice president of U.S. RE Securities LLC, the investment banking arm of U.S. RE Companies Inc. in Pearl River. Before joining the company, Nelson worked in the financial institutions group of Banc of America Securities LLC. Nelson earned an MBA at the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Business Administration at Western Michigan University.
